The kickoff meeting for the Biomaps project (grant agreement no. 101177344), funded by the European Commission under the HORIZON-CL4-2024-TWIN-TRANSITION-01-01 call for "Bio-intelligent Manufacturing Industries (Made in Europe Partnership) (RIA)," took place in Espoo, Finland, on June 3 and 4. Teknologian Tutkimuskeskus VTT Oy, the project coordinator, organized the meeting.
The meeting provided an opportunity for all the partners to meet face-to-face for the first time. The partners included Teknologian Tutkimuskeskus VTT Oy and Turun Yliopisto from Finland; Aimplas and the University of Santiago de Compostela from Spain; Politecnico di Torino and the University of Sassari from Italy; Inuru GmbH and Opel Automobile GmbH from Germany; Bio-Mi from Croatia; Bioplastech LTD from Ireland; and Strane Innovation from France. The meeting included presentations and discussions of the lump-sum concept, as well as the structure and starting activities of the different work packages of the Biomaps project.
The meeting was fruitful, with plenty of ideas and brainstorming to launch the first research activities. Numerous topics were addressed, ranging from the vitrimerization of poly(hydroxy alkanoates) to their applications and end-of-life possibilities.
The next consortium meeting is scheduled for February 2026 in Valencia. See you there!
