Inuru GmbH
Inuru GmbH is a high-tech company based near Berlin, specializing in printed OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology. Founded in 2016, Inuru developed the world’s first automated production facility—known as the Dragon Factory—for large-scale, cost-efficient manufacturing of paper-thin, flexible OLEDs on PET film. By using advanced printing processes, Inuru reduces the cost of OLEDs by up to 95%, making smart packaging, wearables, and medical applications more accessible. The company collaborates with global brands like Coca-Cola and Marvel to produce interactive, light-up labels and sustainable packaging solutions. Inuru’s OLEDs are energy-efficient, recyclable, and support digital features such as sensors and charging interfaces. The startup, a spin-off from Freie Universität Berlin, has received multiple innovation awards and is considered a pioneer in the printed electronics industry.

Role in the project
Within the scope of Work Package 8 (WP8) of the project, Inuru GmbH is responsible for developing four flexible electronics demonstration use cases. These include: (1) ten printed electronic labels for integration into an automotive demonstrator using in-mold electronics; (2) three interactive electronic labels for pharmaceutical packaging; (3) three consumer product bottles featuring integrated printed electronics labels; and (4) one illuminated jacket incorporating a glowing logo. In addition, Inuru will supply ten ELF (Electroluminescent Film) labels for IJM (injection molding) integration testing by AIMPLAS. The demonstrations will utilize advanced vitrimerized PHA films developed by VTT, known for their hydrophobic and self-healing properties. These films will also serve as PET replacements, and coatings developed in T3.3 may be applied to enhance the PET tag surfaces.
